How it works
A PSA generator separates nitrogen from your own compressed air in two carbon molecular sieve beds. Membrane units suit lower purity and simpler installs.

Purity drives the cost
Higher purity needs much more compressed air per cubic metre of nitrogen. Match purity to the process, not to the cylinder label.

How does a nitrogen generator work?
A PSA generator passes clean, dry compressed air through carbon molecular sieve beds that hold back oxygen, alternating between two beds. Membrane generators use hollow fibres and suit lower purities.
What purity do I need?
Match it to the process: about 99.5% for laser cutting mild steel, 99.9% for heat treating and electronics, 99.99% for bright stainless cuts. Higher purity needs much more compressed air.
Can my existing compressor feed a generator?
Sometimes. The generator needs a steady supply of dry, filtered air on top of plant demand. We check spare capacity from your demand data before sizing.
How fast is the payback?
It depends on how much you pay for cylinders or liquid, including rental and delivery. The nitrogen calculator on our tools page compares running costs from your invoices.
What about backup?
Most systems keep a small cylinder or liquid backup, or a second generator, for maintenance and peak flows.
