Electrical sizing tools
Free sizing tools for the electrical side of motor-driven plant equipment: the step-down transformer when equipment is built for 460 V and your plant has 575 V, the motor branch circuit, a transformer for a new load, and power factor correction. Each tool shows its working and the code rule behind it.
Budget and planning numbers only. Table currents, conductor sizes and overcurrent ratings follow the standard percentages in both codes, before ambient and grouping derating. In Ontario, electrical work needs an ESA permit and a licensed electrical contractor, and the final selection is confirmed on our quote.
When you need a step-down transformer
A lot of process equipment, including vacuum pumps, blowers and packaged skids, is built for 460 V. Most Ontario plants distribute 575 V. Ordering the equipment in 575 V is best when it is offered. When it is not, a step-down transformer beside the machine is the quick fix, and we quote it with the equipment.
